In the current time period, many people are not allowed to go to the gym (to say nothing of the dojo, the church, the inside of the restaurant and other markers of a free society). Although it would be great to set up a complete home gym with a squat rack, barbell and plates, not everyone has the space or the money for something like that.
Fortunately, it’s easy to get a good workout using bodyweight exercises like push-ups, sit-ups, jump squats, and burpees. Add in a kettlebell, and you can get an even better workout.
I’ve been using a kettlebell off and on at home since March, and I highly recommend it. I got mine from Kettlebell Kings, but Rogue Fitness and Onnit are good choices as well.
Once you’ve acquired a kettlebell, you have to learn how to use it correctly. In person instruction with a professional is your best option, but in second place is watching a good video. Follow along to the video above to find out how to properly pick up a kettlebell and perform basic movements like the swing, squat, and overhead press. Pay close attention to detail and listen to your body! Do your best to mimic proper movements and check in with a professional as soon as possible to check your form.
