Our judo for adults classes work with people of all skill levels from beginner through advanced. If you’ve never done judo before, you should start with our Judo Fundamentals class, every Tuesday and Thursday. In this class we cover all the basics – how to fall, how to roll, basic footwork and gripping. Click here to register for a free class!

Our other adult classes also practice basics, but we also move into more advanced skills like uchi-komi (entry practice), movement drills, throwing practice, groundwork skills practice (pins, chokes, armbars), randori (free play/live sparring), and of course strength and fitness conditioning. We practice the full spectrum of judo as both a sport and martial art, from “old-school judo” to no-gi judo.

Judo is great for self defense. The best self defense is of course to not get into a fight. But if physical altercation is unavoidable, judo provides excellent tools to avoid harm and subdue your attacker without causing permanent damage.

Participation in tournaments is encouraged but not required. We view competition as a valuable tool to test your skills, rather than an end in itself. Judo is also an excellent adjunct to other sports such as Brazilian jiujitsu, wrestling, MMA and more. We have a lot of fun while learning a skill and getting fit. Come join us!
