San Leandro

510 Judo is located in the Estudillo Estates neighborhood of San Leandro. Our address is 1029 Macarthur Boulevard, San Leandro CA 94577. It’s just off the 580, close to the Oakland Zoo, convenient to Hayward, Castro Valley, and the Oakland hills. There is a parking lot, and lots of free street parking. The neighborhood includes Boulevard Burger, a Rite Aid, Starbucks, an independent cafe called Sabino’s Coffee, and a few grocery stores as well.

Safety First: The Floating Floor

510 Judo has very nice foam Dollamur judo mats, sitting on top of a custom built judo subfloor, often referred to as the “Denver floating floor” because of where it was first used. You can read all about the details of the floor at this link, but essentially there is a layer of spaced out foam blocks (30-40 blocks per 4 x 8 plywood sheet), followed by two layers of overlapping plywood, followed by the mats themselves. It is an absolute dream to fall on – a fast and firm judo surface that is also extremely bouncy and forgiving when taking the big falls judo is known for.
