Here is another type of tandoku renshu, or solo judo drill. Ko Uchi Gari (minor inside reap) is a type of ashiwaza, or foot technique. It’s used very commonly in combination with O Uchi Gari, Seoinage, Uchimata, and many other throws. Remember to keep your hands high, and try not to look down at the ground when doing this drill!

Key points for ko uchi gari: turn your body sideways when executing this throw (ninety degrees to the wall), bend your supporting leg, keep your sweeping leg straight and push from the hip! As with yesterday’s O Uchi Gari wall drill, the hands on the wall allow you to lean your weight into the throw, almost as if you had an uke.
