On Sunday, September 9th, we had our very first in house tournament (Oakland Judo Tournament 2018!). We had a lot of fun, and for many of our judoka, it was their first competitive experience.
For the little kids we had a newaza-only division, with regular divisions for adults and big kids. Leg grabs were allowed in all divisions, and both chokes and armbars were allowed for all adults.
Thanks to our referees, Minobu Sensei and Ivan Sensei, and thanks Sensei Mark for running weigh ins and making pools. Thanks to everyone for coming and participating! We’ll probably do another one in the spring.
